The founders and principals of Pillar who has a combined experience of 40 years in the healthcare profession in the US and have actively participated in educating and training various healthcare professionals in their respective hospitals. They will be the main educators of the global assimilation and competency skills training. They will be assisted by our other educators who have extensive hospital experiences locally and abroad.
FLORA ASUNCION, MBA (Advisor)
Flora Asuncion has been in the healthcare business since 1990. Having experience in various industries, Flora found her niche in healthcare when she joined UniHealth America, Inc. in California, USA 20 years ago. Since then, her professional career have been dedicated to finance and hospital operations. She is currently the Regional Director of Patient Care Services of Kasier Permanente, where she is responsible for overseeing and impacting the performance of 21 medical centers in Northern California.
Asuncion graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, Manila with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. After passing the Philippine certified public accountant examinations in 1987, Asuncion completed her Executive Program degree as Master in Business Administration from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, CA. She also holds a special certification on International Business from La Salle School of Architecture and Business in Spain, during which she had the unique opportunity to study and write about the healthcare industry in an international setting.
JOJO JOSE, RPT
Jojo is a graduate of De La Salle University, Dasmarinas, Cavite in 1988. She migrated to the USA and after passing the written licensure exam and completed her internship program in Encino Hospital of California obtained her license as a Registered Physical Therapist in California, USA. She has close to 20 years of experience and has worked in various areas like ICU, Med Surge, Transitional Care Unit, Acute Rehabilitation, Skilled Nursing, Hospice, Home Health, Out Patient, Adult Day Care as a staff, Administrator and Director of Rehabilitation. She eventually put up her own private practice in West Covina, California and does consultations for group homes for developmentally and mentally challenged adults and children. For 15 years she has trained different healthcare professionals in Patient’s and Worker’s safety in various Healthcare settings in Los Angeles, CA.
MARGARETH LAVADIA, RN-PDN
Mar is a graduate of the University of Sto. Tomas, Manila obtaining her degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1982. She also completed her Teacher’s Certificate Program from the same university, College of Education and is currently a candidate for Master of Arts, Majoring in Medical Surgical Nursing also from UST, Manila. She has been an ANSAP Certified Intravenous Therapist since 1998. She has exemplary leadership being the current National President of the Association of Private Duty Nurse Practitioner Philippines, Inc (APDNPP) and Chapter President of the Catholic Nursing Guild of the Philippines. She has also been Chairperson in the Chapter Affairs Committee of the Philippine Nurses Association (PNA) in 2001-2003, an active participant in the development of Core Competency Standard for Nursing Curriculum.
LUALHATI M. FLORANDA, RN, MAN
Lualhati received her Nursing degree from Concordia College in 1979 and her Master of Arts in Nursing Major in Maternal and Child Health Nursing from the University of the Philippines Open University. She is a former Head Nurse in the Prince Salman Bin Abdul Aziz Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia—where she was awarded Outstanding Head Nurse for two years—and a former Principal of HELP Learning Center (Special School for Children with Autism) in Naga City, Bicol. She is a top notcher during Faculty Performance Evaluation during her stay at the Emilio Aguinaldo College and one of the top lecturers in De Los Santos-STI College. She is currently a full-time faculty member at the Manila Doctors College since 2008.
MYLA M. GUADIZ, RN, MAN, MSN
Myla holds a Master of Arts in Nursing from the University of La Salette in Santiago City, Isabela. Hailed as one of the top lecturers in the Emilio Aguinaldo College and De Los Santos-STI College of Nursing in Metro Manila, she is also a lecturer in Medical Surgical Nursing; Fundamentals of Nursing, Pharmacology and Skills laboratory at the Faculty of Manila Doctors College. She has 12 years of hospital experience under her belt.
